It never fails when the Extreme Edge Tournament comes to town, you can count on some strange weather - Oh and you know that weather is really bad when it comes with a name! In this case it was Hurricane Dennis! Dennis the Menace visited the state of Florida on the weekend of the Sarasota EEF tournament. Instead of putting 100+ paddlers at risk, the tournament was cancelled.
However, we did have a pretty good Hurricane party before everyone left to return home. Here's some pictures of the days leading up to the party and some others of the party itself.

Well this pretty much sums up the weekend. Dennis apparently likes fishing too, because he showed up just in time for the tournament. |

The Mote Marine Laboratory provided the facilities for the tournament. This is a great scientific research center that everyone should visit if they're visiting town. The center has several on-going projects to help address several marine issues such as the Red Tide, reproduction, migration, and also has a nice facility to provide medical attention to injured marine animals. |

Roger DeBruler is a Staff Biologist at the Mote Centers for Fisheries Enhancement. He is also a representative of the Snook Foundation. The Snook Foundation is a non-profit organization to help understand this awesome game fish and how we can responsibly enhance the fisheries. In this photo, Roger is showing the proper way to handle a snook by supporting it's body on both ends and trying to keep as much of the fish in the water as possible. |

Tournament Director Rick Roberts issues a challenge to the anglers at the party. If you sign up as a member of the Snook Foundation, he would put your name in a drawing for several trips. As you can tell from the crowd around him, his challenge was very successful and he's smiling. |

Benny Landrum introduces Economy Tackle to the crowd. Economy Tackle was the primary sponsor of the EEF event in Sarasota. |

Benny Landrum and Tom Stubblefield catch up during a short break. Notice the pile of goodies on the right? Those are all raffle items that were given away during the party. |
